How to start sharing a folder

In order to start sharing a particular folder with other users, do the following:

  1. Open the Sharing Settings tab on the Synchronization and Sharing Settings form.

  2. Select the preferred folder on the Tree view.

  3. Select the Permit access to this folder to other users check box. The third tab Shared Folder Users appears on the right pane.

  4. By default, the Apply filter check box is selected automatically for every folder, which is to be shared. A description of the default sharing filter is displayed on the Sharing filter description list box, depending on the folder type. You can change sharing filters for the folder if you wish. If you don't want to apply any sharing filters to the folder, clear the Apply filter check box.

Note: Sharing filters allow you to selectively choose what folder items will be shared with other users, and only those items will be accessible to all users of the selected shared folder according to their permissions.

  1. Select all users you wish to share the folder with and set permissions for them. You can add a new shared folder user in two alternative ways - either on the Permissions form which appears on clicking the Set Permissions button, or on the Shared Folder Users tab.

  2. Click Apply.

  3. Select the next folder on the Tree view you want to configure sharing settings for, or click OK to exit the form.  

If you wish to quickly configure sharing settings for folders that have not been synchronized yet, use the Synchronization and Sharing Wizard.

Additionally, you can apply the same settings to all subfolders of the selected folder. In this case all subfolders will have the same settings as the parent folder.
